Safety Guidelines

Correct Use

  • The Electric Vehicle is an off-road vehicle. It are not designed for use on roads or paved surfaces. Avoid riding on paved or public roads, except to cross them.
  • The Electric Vehicle is designed for one rider. It should not be used to carry a passenger.
  • The Electric Vehicle can reach and maintain a high speed. Avoid riding too fast for the terrain.
  • Observe the weight limits of the the Electric Vehicle and avoid riding a vehicle that is too small or too large.
  • Be mindful of the remaining battery charge.
  • Avoid riding the Electric Vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances.
  • Always wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment.
  • The Electric Vehicle should be regularly maintained for safety and for prolonging the life of the vehicle. This can be done at home, or by a trained mechanic.

Protective Gear

When riding an Electric Vehicle, it is important to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Helmet - Your helmet should have a tight fit, provide adequate peripheral vision, and should be safety approved by the appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Eye Protection or Goggles
  • Long Pants and a long sleeve shirt
  • Gloves
  • Boots

Safety Tips

  • For safety, keys to the Electric Vehicle should be kept inaccessible to children.
  • Parents should supervise all children under 16 years. Knowledge of basic first aid is a good idea, and parents should consider taking a first aid course through a hospital.
  • Remember that it’s always a good idea to tell someone where you’re going and how long you expect to be gone.
  • Remember to maintain your Electric Vehicle to minimise the chance of it breaking down when you are out away from help.

General Maintenance

Handle Bars

As the handlebars see constant use, there is a high chance for eventual wear and tear. Ensure that they are in good repair and everything that should be attached
to them is attached firmly.

Tyres

To minimise the risk of a flat tyre while out riding, check your tyre pressure before every ride. Remember to also check for bubbles or cracks in the tyre.

Nuts & Bolts

Before you ride, make sure that all the nuts and bolts are tightened.

Brakes

Check that there is no debris caught on the brake pads.

Battery

Make sure that before you ride the battery is fully charged.

Chain

Make sure that the chain is affixed properly and that it is properly oiled.

Storage

The Electric Vehicle should be kept out of the elements when not in use. If you plan to store the Electric Vehicle for an extended period, remember to fully drain the battery, and consider keeping it covered to protect it from dust and cobwebs.
