Safety Guidelines
Correct Use
- The Mobility Scooter is designed for use on the footpath, as a pedestrian. Avoid riding on the road, except to cross.
- The Mobility Scooter is designed for one rider. It should not be used to carry a passenger.
- Be mindful of the remaining battery charge.
- Avoid riding the Mobility Scooter while under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances.
- The Mobility Scooter should be regularly maintained for safety and for prolonging the life of the vehicle. This can be done at home, or by a trained mechanic.
Safety Tips
- For safety, keys to the Mobility Scooter should be kept inaccessible to children.
- Slow down to turn.
- Avoid steep hills unless necessary. Riding up steep hills puts strain on the battery, and riding down steep hills may put a strain on the brakes.
- Avoid turning while on an incline, to avoid rolling the Mobility Scooter, return to a flat surface before turning.
- Make sure you stay visible to pedestrians and cars. When seated, the rider of a Mobility Scooter is shorter than a pedestrian and may be harder for a car to see.
- Exercise caution around driveways.
- Plan your trip so you will have access to ramps and inclines.
- Remember to maintain your Mobility Scooter to minimise the chance of it breaking down when you are out away from help.
General Maintenance
Handle Bars
As the handlebars see constant use, there is a high chance for eventual wear and tear. Ensure that they are in good repair and everything that should be attached
to them is attached firmly.
Nuts & Bolts
Before you ride, make sure that all the nuts and bolts are tightened.
Battery
Make sure that before you ride the battery is fully charged.
Storage
The Mobility Scooter should be kept out of the elements when not in use. If you plan to store the Mobility Scooter for an extended period, remember to fully drain the battery, and consider keeping it covered to protect it from dust and cobwebs.
